CSS Eligibility criteria

A Candidate must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible to take the CSS Exam!

CSS Eligibility Criteria
Age

Age Limit:

Between 21 to 30 years on cut-off date i.e. 31st December of every year.

  • A candidate born after 2nd January, 2002 shall not be eligible for CE-2023. Similarly, a candidate born on or before 31st December, 1992 shall not be eligible for CE-2023.

 Age Relaxation:

 Two years relaxation in upper-age limit for the candidates lying in following categories:

  • In-Service Government Employees or Armed Forces Personnel who possess a minimum of two years continuous Government service as on the cut-off date. Employees of nationalized banks, State Bank of Pakistan, Water and Power Development Authority, regulatory authorities, autonomous bodies and other semi-autonomous bodies are not entitled to the age-relaxation under these rules.
  • Special Candidates i.e., Physically, Visually, Speech or Hearing impaired.
  • Belonging to scheduled cast or Buddhist Community.
  • Permanent Resident of Azad Kashmir Territory, Gilgit-Baltistan or Baluchistan.
  • Belonging to the recognized Tribes whose families have been residing permanently in the areas mentioned below:
    1. Former excluded Baloch Area forming part of the Dera Ghazi Khan & Rajanpur Districts.
    2. Tribal Areas of D.I Khan & Peshawar Divisions (including former Frontier States of Dir, Swat, Chitral and Amb).
    3. Former Tribal Areas of Mardan & Hazara Divisions.
    4. Upper Tanawal Area of Hazara Division.
Educational Qualification
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (14 years of education) from Universities recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC). A minimum 2nd Division or ‘C’ Grade is required.
  • If a candidate doesn’t hold the required degree on and before the cut-off date, a Provisional Certificate must be provided from the relevant university. However, the candidate would be required to produce the degree before the final result declared by the Federal Public Service Commission of Pakistan (FPSC).
  • A candidate who has obtained a 3rd division or ‘D’ grade in a bachelor’s degree shall be eligible for the competitive examination in case where he/she has obtained a higher division or grade in master’s degree.
Nationality
  • Must be a Citizen of Pakistan or from the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
  • A Pakistani candidate who has married a foreign national shall not be eligible for competitive exam. However, a candidate is deemed eligible if he had taken permission from Federal Government before marrying.
Domicile
  • Vacancies of the Occupational Groups and Services are filled in accordance with the policy prescribed by the Federal Government. Therefore, candidates are required to produce a domicile certificate issued by the relevant competent authority.
  • Domicile once claimed by a candidate and accepted by the Commission for the purpose of admission to the competitive examination shall be final. No change will be allowed at a subsequent examination or selection.

    Hi I wanna ask about my eligibility criteria I have done two years associate program from Pakistan Marine Academy so I have in total 14 years of study. Am I eligible for the exams of css or no.?

    I’m from Hyderabad and my age is now 22 and I’m studying in BCS a third year degree program and now I’m currently in 5th semester so wanna ask should I need a master degree for css or I’m eligible with this 3rd year bechlor degree

    • If your 3 year degree program is recognized by HEC, then you are eligible to take the CSS Exam.

  • You are eligible to take CSS exam if your CGPA is 2.5 or higher.

    My name is Sehar and I belong to Sialkot Punjab. I have a question for you regarding CSS entry. I am doing BS Software Engineering from University of Sialkot and now my 6th semester is going on and my current CGPA is 2.6. So if my cgpa end of degree is 2.7 or 2.8 then will i get admission in css exam.
